Speed Feedback Sign Trailers

The Iowa Department of Transportation provided funding through TSIP for Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) to purchase two trailer-based speed feedback signs. These signs are available to local agencies (Public Works and Secondary Roads entities) as part of the LTAP equipment loan program. The objective is to provide local agencies the opportunity to gain experience in using this type of equipment and determine if they would like to purchase their own. The intended use of the trailers is to address a proven speeding problem along a roadway, but may also be used for other issues (e.g. special events, work zones, etc.).  Typical loan periods are two weeks.  Trailers are not loaned out between November and March on account of winter.

To request use of a speed feedback trailer, please complete the request form below.

Note: The original research funding that supported trailer delivery and pick-up has expired.  Requesting agencies will need to pick-up and return the trailer they have requested from LTAP in Ames.
