Iowa Streets and Roads Workshop and Conference

About the Workshop

Attend this year’s workshop to learn about public works/secondary roads operations and maintenance.  There will be presentations on winter maintenance, street maintenance, gravel road maintenance, work zone safety, construction inspection, building a team culture, stormwater runoff, and bridge and culvert maintenance. We will also be touring the fabulous West Des Moines Public Services facilities after the workshop.

About the Conference

This year’s conference is sure to be one you won’t want to miss! Along with a slate of several relevant presentations, you can look forward to “mousetraps and gadgets” and roundtable discussions. Attendees will have ample time to meet with their peers and many exhibitors.

Note: Attendance to either the workshop or the conference is not necessary to participate in the other.

Who Should Attend

All public employees are invited to attend. Anyone who is in a leadership position, such as a first-line supervisor or aspires to be in such a position, will especially benefit from the workshop. Secondary road and street maintenance supervisors and staff will especially benefit from the conference.

Scholarship Opportunity

Each year, we are able to offer a limited number of scholarships for first-time attendees. Please contact Beth Richards for more information.

Workshop and Conference Credits

Attendance at the workshop and conference will each provide contact hours toward the Iowa Roads Scholar program.

Vendors

The Iowa Streets and Roads Conference provides vendors with the opportunity to showcase and demonstrate their products. Attendees will primarily be maintenance supervisors and others responsible for maintaining streets and roadways, procuring related equipment and materials, and managing administrative functions.

Display and Setup Information (SEE BIG CHANGES BELOW!)

The display areas consist of an 8′ x 10′ indoor space, with an 8′ table and two chairs plus electricity and wireless internet. NOTE: With the change in location we have some big changes to our vendor space. All equipment brought in by vendors will now be inside the vendor space and enough space will need to be purchased. Requests for indoor equipment spaces were due by May 30; if you missed this deadline, you can be entered on a waitlist in case the spaces requested are not purchased. Special instructions for equipment delivery and setup will be forthcoming.

Accommodations

Accommodation details for 2024 will be announced as the event nears.

Registration

Location assignment in the vendor space is based on a first come, first served basis.

Door Prizes

Door prizes will be given out on during the conference. Vendors who are interested in donating door prizes can bring them to the registration area during the conference.

Become a Reception Sponsor

Vendor sponsorship of the evening reception is encouraged. The bronze sponsorship is $300, silver is $550, and gold is $1,100. Please note your desire to be a sponsor when registering, and we will provide you with additional information. Thank you for your donation!
