Iowa Streets and Roads Workshop and Conference

About the Workshop

Attend this year’s workshop on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 to learn about Leadership Skills. There will be presentations on the elements of leadership, group and team development, ethics and leadership, organizational self-assessment and defining excellence. As a bonus, you will also receive credit in the Leadership Institute.

About the Conference

This year’s conference is Wednesday and Thursday, September 22 and 23, 2021 and sure to be one you won’t want to miss! Along with a slate of several relevant presentations, you can look forward to “mousetraps and gadgets” and roundtable discussions. Attendees will have ample time to meet with their peers and many exhibitors.

Note: Attendance to either the workshop or the conference is not necessary to participate in the other.

Who Should Attend

All public employees are invited to attend. Anyone who is in a leadership position, such as a first-line supervisor, or aspires to be in such a position will especially benefit from the workshop. Secondary road and street maintenance supervisors and staff will especially benefit from the conference.

Workshop and Conference Credits

Attendance at the workshop and conference will each provide contact hours toward the Iowa Roads Scholar program.

Accommodations

Rooms are available at the Quality Inn and Suites (515-232-9260) for $100 plus tax. Mention “Streets & Roads” to get the special rate. The block will be released on September 2, 2021.

Mousetraps and Gadgets

Do you have an innovative idea or invention that has reduced costs or improved efficiency in your agency? Let us know about it! A prize will be given for the best mousetrap or gadget! Submit an entry here.

Group Tour

Join us for a tour of the Ziegler Cat Center in Altoona on Tuesday, September 21, 2021 from 4:00–8:00 p.m. The tour will highlight Ziegler’s services which includes their parts department, shop, paint booth and their machine rebuild capabilities. Dinner will be provided. The motor coach will leave the hotel at 4:00 p.m. There is no charge for the tour, but registration is required, so register early. Vendors

The Iowa Streets and Roads Conference provides vendors with the opportunity to showcase and demonstrate their products. Attendees will primarily be maintenance supervisors and others responsible for maintaining streets and roadways, procuring related equipment and materials, and managing administrative functions.

Display and Setup Information

The display areas consist of an 8′ x 10′ indoor space, with an 8′ table and two chairs plus electricity and wireless internet. Outdoor areas for large equipment are also available. Vendors can set up after 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 21 or before 8:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 22.

Registration

Location assignment in the vendor space is based on a first come, first served basis. Space is limited, so register early!

Door Prizes

Door prizes will be given out on Wednesday afternoon and Thursday morning. There will be a door prize donation table by the registration table at the conference if you are interested in making a donation.

Become a Reception Sponsor

Vendor sponsorship of the evening reception is encouraged. The bronze sponsorship is $250, silver is $500, and gold is $1,000. Please note your desire to be a sponsor when registering, and we will provide you with additional information. Thank you for your donation!
